Dancer/Flamenco Teacher

 

Emma 'La Rizada' completed the SDS (Spanish Dance Society)  syllabus in 2000.  Determined to pursue the 'real' flamenco she went to live and  study in Jerez de la Frontera at the Centro de Baile and trained with Mercedes Ruiz.  Not only did she discover this art form, but experienced it in context, as a way of life. 

Emma  has been teaching and performing since her return to the UK in 2001. 

She has a professional teaching qualification and graduated from East London Dance in 2006 as a qualified Community Dance Practitioner. 

 Emma has a wide range of teaching experience and is a versatile teacher.  She has worked in  adult education at London's Bishopsgate Institute , in primary and secondary schools as well as running her own classes in Greenwich.  Emma has taught for the Royal Academy of Dance and  choreographed a short piece for RAD which was performed by her students at Sadlers Wells Theatre London.   She is currently working alongside SELVIS (South East London Vision) delivering workshops for blind and partially sighted groups.

Emma continues to return to Spain to train with the leading names in flamenco today.  She  has studied with Mercedes Ruiz,  La Truco,  Manuel Linan,  Andres Pena,  Rafaela Carrasco, Manuela Rios & Rocio Molina and recently in Seville with Alicia Marquez and Carmen Ledesma

We run classes for all levels in Greenwich, Booking opens for the Autumn term at the end of June. Classes start 4th of September

Ulises Diaz Ropero

From Toledo in Spain, is a versatile singer and percussionist currently working in London.  He uses a wide range of palos either to accompany dance or work as a solo artist.   He works alongside Ritmo Flamenco and performs in our annual school show.

 

 

   

 

Lina Leon Singer and Flautist 

Born in Huelva Spain. Began her musical studies aged 8, influenced by her father, a flamenco/classical guitarist. Lina graduated with distinction from Seville Superior Conservatory, moving to Amsterdam Conservatory where she post graduated in historical flutes and contemporary music.  She has performed in tablaos such as 'Palacio del Flamenco and Los Tarantos and has toured worldwide.
